The Iraqi Election
Whether or not you were for or against the war in Iraq, you just have to admit that this was an historical moment. A free election, women had the right to vote and the terrorists could not stop the election. How can you not say ''WOW"!
Dr. Condi Rice
Lets lay aside our political differences for a moment. Dr. Rice is #4 or 5 in line for the presidency in the event that a major catastrophe hit our country. This in and of itself is an historical thing. An African American Female is the Secretary of State, assuming this position from an African American Male. Is this not what Dr. Martin Luther King dreamt of and fought for? Is this not a victory for the African American Community?
Just think, in the 1940's Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier to play professional baseball. In 2000 Colin Powell broke the Color Barrier and became the Secretary of State; in 2005 Dr Rice was able to cross that same barrier. What next? Is it possible that in 2008 this nation might be ready for an African American President? Obama? Rice? Powell? Someone else?
Say what you may, complain if you will, but you cannot deny that our country has come a long, long way.
