Some times, even knowing better, we make the wrong decisions
Once when Alabama was playing Auburn, Coach Bear Bryant sent in his 2nd string quarterback with instructions to run on every play and DO NOT PASS. PERIOD!
Alabama was leading by three points and only had to run the clock out to win.
Three downs in a row Alabama was crushed.
On the fourth down with a few seconds left and Alabama ahead the quarterback took the snap. Looking into the end zone he saw his receiver so open the temptation was too great. He threw the ball only to see it intercepted!!!!
Though he was the slowest player on the field the 2nd string quarterback ran down the interceptor and Alabama won the game.
After the game coach Dye of Auburn said to Bear Bryant, "How could that boy run down my boy who was so much faster?"
"Simple," answered Bear, "Your boy was running to score a touchdown - my boy was running to keep me from killing him!"
It is tough to make the right decision.... even if you know the right one to make. It is easy to get sidetracked.
Lot made a choice as to where to live, and as a result he experienced:
1) War and kidnapping - Gen 14
2) Oppression and torment by the ungodly citizens of Sodom - 2 Pe 2:7-8
3) Loss of all his possessions, death of his wife, and incest with his daughters - Gen 19
David chose to commit adultery with Bathsheba, and as a consequence he suffered:
1) The death of his infant son - 2 Sam 12
2) A daughter molested by her half-brother - 2 Sam 13
3) That son killed by her vengeful brother - 2 Sam 13
4) A rebellion led by that son, who shamed him publicly, and whose death brought even more grief to David - 2 Sam 15
You see our choices do affect our lives.....
