God Hath Not given us the Spirit of Fear (Part two)

Reading just from the Headlines fosters FEAR!

Terror attacks
Terror threats
The bird flu will kill us all
Tropical Storms will kill us
John Kerry, Al Gore or Hillary Clinton might run for president

There is a difference between Fear of the Lord as in Awe and reverence and The spirit of Fear

There is a difference between the spirit of fear and being afraid.

There are times and situations that we are afraid.. But what do we do with that fear? They say

Courage is simply fear under control…

During World War II, a military governor met with General George Patton in Sicily. When he praised Patton highly for his courage and bravery, the general replied, "Sir, I am not a brave man. . . The truth is, I am an utter craven coward. I have never been within the sound of gunshot or in sight of battle in my whole life that I wasn't so scared that I had sweat in the palms of my hands." Years later, when Patton's autobiography was published, it contained this significant statement by the general: "I learned very early in my life never to take counsel of my fears"

Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared.
Eddie Rickenbacker, Bits & Pieces, April 29, 1993, p. 12.

General Sherman said this about courage "I would define true courage to be a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it."

Sometimes Courage is what we make of it…

Jesus is the source of our courage, I challange you to seek his face and turn to him when facing fearful situations.
