There are Six steps to receiving the Holy Ghost
1.) Repentance
- Sometimes the lack of repentance or insincere repentance will hinder someone
- If they do not think God will or can forgive them, build their faith. God wants to forgive them, nothing's too hard for God to forgive
- Unforgiveable sin: If they say ''what If I have committed the unforgiveable sin. I tell them that the mere fact that they want to repent and that they want God in their life shows that they haven't committed the unforgiveable sin.
- Tears could be repentace, embarrassment, joy, awe, defeat or frustration
2.) Faith: Faith is important
- The seeker must be convinced that they will receive the Holy Ghos
- If they do not believe it, they will not receive it
- With first time seekers, you may not have to deal with this problem. With Chronic seekers it may be a problem
- But let him ask in faith, not wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of sea, driven with wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. James 1: 6-7
- Do they really want the Holy Ghost. Remember, it's a gift.
- If he does not want the Holy Ghost he will not receive it
My Grandparents were of two different religions. Both were the child of a preacher. My Grandmothers parents were Apostolic Ministers; ya know the kind, old Fashioned Brush Arbor, Tent Meeting Evangelists.
My grandfathers dad was of a different faith.
Once they got into a bible debate over the Holy Ghost and My Grandfathers Dad yelled at my Grandmothers mom….
I DON"T WANT THE HOLY GHOST then stormed off
My grandmothers mom said… don't worry, you won't get it then.
He stormed further down the road and SCREAMED AGAIN!!!!!!!! I DON"T WANT THE HOLY GHOST
She said ''then you won't get it'
He kept screaming this at her until he was out of ear shot.
He never go the Holy Ghost.
If they don't desire the Holy Ghost, chances are they won't get it. If you feel this is happening. You may have to back away for the moment. After service talk to them about a home bible study.
