Love - dating

I have a child who has recently gone through a ‘’boyfriend – girlfriend’’ break up recently. Oh the teen drama as they removed their pictures from my-space and their cell phones. I think back to my dating days and wonder: did we have that type of drama then?

The Answer of course is YES!

For singles Dating can be a fun time of life. For married people, dating can make you single again!

I remember a date I was on once (many years ago) and I took this girl out one time and one time only.

The entire date she talked about Donny Oman! Imagine sharing a pizza with a girl babbling on incessantly about a singer (who lived in his sister’s shadow)!

‘’Donny is so blah blah blah’’

‘’I think that Donny is blah blah blah’’

There was another guy in the booth and he didn’t even pay his own way.

Last date!

When we are praying, is Jesus our focus?

Do we allow our minds to wander to sports, news, kids, cars and life in general?  Does he get our attention 100%? Or does he have to share time?

As Paul wrote in II Cor. 10: 5…  We need to bring our every thought in to captivity. In other words we need to force our minds to focus on the one who died for our sins.  If  your prayer time is not effective, maybe your mind is on something else.  Try focusing on God, which may mean using a prayer list or the bible. Some people will pray the Psalms, some use prayer wheels or other methods to keep them on track and in focus.

2 Corinthians 10

 1Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

 2But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

 3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
