Attraction and Lust (Part 4)

The bible tells us to flee youthful lusts, but it does not necessarily mean our own lusts.

2 Tim 2 22. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

I remember one night a friend and I had dates with these two girls in his church. Right before service they showed us the van that they brought for the date. "VAN?" We thought. We looked in this van. They had removed the back seats and had 2 mattresses back there.

We ran.

We were attracted to these girls, but their attraction appeared to go beyond attraction and was an open desire for sexual relations. If your boyfriend or girlfriend is constantly pushing you to have sex, get out of that relationship. Maybe your friends wife or husband is hitting on you, avoid them.

That is fleeing youthful lusts just like Joseph fled the lust of his masters wife.

Sexual attraction makes you notice that cute girl or handsome boy. Yes you will be tempted by lust and if you give in to lust and you will seek a way to fulfill that lust. That is where it becomes a sin. Not simply being attracted.

Lust is obsessive. If you undress every girl you see, if you fantasize about every girl you meet, YES!

Remember, you are walking down the street and a scantily clad female walks in front of you. You will notice, and perhaps a thought might pop in your head. That is called temptation. It is what you do with that temptation that is the problem.

Ever made a snow man? You start with a small snow ball and roll it until it gets larger and larger. Imagine the cartoon snow ball that rolls down the hill and gets bigger and bigger and bigger??
That is how the temptation becomes a lustful desire and then the sin follows.
