Acts 3: 1. Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
Peter and John went to pray at the temple. Thousands had just received the Holy Ghost and the two main leaders went to a prayer meeting; and when you think about it what better time to pray? A great revival does not mean to stop sit and relax; it means get busy.
2. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3. Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.
Society wants to throw money and programs at the poor, the lame, the homeless, the downtrodden and the cast-offs!
Peter made eye contact with the man, he did not regard him as a 2nd or 3rd class citizen, but he made eye contact and encouraged him to make eye contact with them. How do we regard them? Do we avert our eyes? Do we walk right past them without even a nod? Peter and John made eye contact with him and acknowledged his existence. If we are going to help people, if we are going to reach the lost, we must make contact with them. We must treat them like they are the children of a king, which they are. Do you care? If we don't show that we care, we cannot reach them.
Peter and John were not afraid to walk in faith and to depend upon the word of God. In this instance they spoke the word of faith and the lame man was healed on the spot. They spent 3 1/2 years with Jesus and knew that he was a healer and they just continued to believe that he does heal.
We cannot always meet the monetary needs of everyone, but we can introduce them to Jesus who can meet all their needs.
