I find it interesting how often we blame the devil for things that are just normal human emotions.
For example, being afraid is not always the devil or of the devil. In fact, most of what we ascribe as being of the devil is not. Fear is a normal human emotion, hence the reason that when Angels appear unto people, they usually say ''be not afraid'' or ''Fear not''.
If you are confronted with a snarling rabid pit bull, its perfectly ok to be afraid (unless you are Steve Irwin the Crock Hunter). You are not giving in to the devil or allowing the enemy to control your life.
If a girl is attracted to a boy, that is not lust, its normal emotion, if a boy is attracted to a girl, again its normal human emotion. In fact God created us to be that way. Its not lust! Boys its ok to be girl crazy and girls its ok to be boy crazy. Its a normal emotion. IT IS NOT LUST!
I find it laughable that people want to blame the devil for normal emotions.
When we blame the devil for every thing we create false guilt and condemnation. You see most of our problems are not created by Lucifer, but by our own carnality or in some cases stupidity.
If you run out of gas on the way to church, chances are it is not a trick of the devil to keep you out of church, YOU didn't gas up.
If you slip on the ice walking to the car just before church, a demon did not trip you to prevent you from going to church. YOU were too lazy to salt the sidewalk or clear the snow and ice.
That cold or virus you got, maybe you don't wash your hands before eating, after going to the bathroom, shaking hands, petting the dog or coughing.
Did you fall asleep in church? That may not be a sin of sin in your life, nor a lack of spirituality. Maybe you stayed up to late on the internet, watching a movie, watching TV, Talking on the phone, playing a game or reading a book. Maybe you didn't sleep well or ate too late and couldn't sleep. Maybe you have sleep apnea.
Life happens, stuff occurs and problems pop up, yet we want to assign the blame to the devil, he is enough of a liar, that he will accept the blame. We need to take responsibility for our own actions and realize that the devil doesn't due 20% of what we blame on him.
